Established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, LUNAFEST spotlights the work of a diverse array of talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking themes. This traveling film festival is dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities. This year’s LUNAFEST highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films that range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers.
Soroptimist International of Hood River is hosting this year’s festival at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River on March 16th and 17th. Program starts at 7pm. Tickets are $15 and are available to purchase at Waucoma Bookstore in Hood River or online at Eventbrite.
100 percent of all LUNAFEST net proceeds are donated to charity. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund nationally and Soroptimist International of Hood River locally. Soroptimist clubs have been empowering women through access to education since 1972 with our cornerstone program—the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards (formerly the Women’s Opportunity Awards). Funds raised for SIHR will support our Live Your Dream awards, financial awards given directly to local women working to better themselves and their families’ lives.
When you attend LUNAFEST, you not only get a night out with great films, but you also get to make a difference in the lives of real women.
